Pulstar plugs are the first real breakthrough in spark plug technology in over 120 years. They look and fit like spark plugs but contain an integrated electrical device called a capacitor. The capacitor peaks the energy of the spark plug in much the same way that a camera flash intensifies light. The result is a 300% increase in energy to the fuel charge harvesting more energy from the same amount of fuel while reducing CO2 emissions. For every gallon of fuel not consumed approximately 20 pounds of CO2 is prevented from entering our atmosphere.

Pulstar Pulse Plug technology is the first real breakthrough in spark plug technology in over 120 years, and now that technology has gone green with the Pulstar Platinum Pulse Plug product line. Platinum Pulse Plugs look and fit like spark plugs, but contain an integrated electrical capacitor, which focuses the energy of the plug in much the same way that a camera flash intensifies light. The result is peak electrical power delivered to the fuel mixture that is far beyond that typical of conventional spark plugs, allowing for more complete combustion that in turn produces not only increased torque and horsepower, but also increased fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions.

Go Green Generating More Power with Less Fuel
All gasoline engines require the efficient ignition of the fuel mixture compressed within them if they are to generate the energy needed to power a vehicle in as responsible a manner as possible. Historically, conventional spark plugs have been the only option, but with both the necessity of lessening the carbon footprint of individual drivers and the rise in fuel prices, there must be an alternative. Thankfully, today drivers concerned with living a green lifestyle can dispense with outdated spark plug technology that is not as clean as it should be and step into the modern era with Pulstar Platinum Pulse Plugs.

Pulstar Platinum Pulse Plugs may look similar to spark plugs on the outside, but inside the technological advances of Pulstar are evident. Pulse plugs feature a unique built-in capacitor-based circuit that captures energy normally wasted by spark plugs. This energy is released in an amazingly powerful and quick (two nanosecond) high-energy pulse, which generates a spark with 20,000 times greater energy than any spark plug. Because this energy is stored in the built-in capacitor of the pulse plug, rather than routed through the plug as with spark plugs, ignition is available at the exact moment needed, resulting in more efficient and cleaner combustion of the fuel mixture. This improved efficiency has a direct relation to improved fuel efficiency as more of the fuel mixture is burned, lower CO2 emissions and even increases in horsepower and torque. Independent test confirm the results of these efficiencies at up to 4.4 more in mpg and CO2 emissions reduced by a quarter ton annually.

Pulsed Power Technology
Pulsed power technology is the science of storing power for a relatively long period of time and then discharging the stored power in an instantaneous pulse of energy. Installing pulsed power technology in a performance auto helps to increase horsepower (while being driven aggressively) and also helps to improve gas mileage during normal driving. A simple way to think about pulsed power technology is to think of Pulstar’s Pulse Plugs being the flash on a camera, whereas spark plugs are more like a flashlight. A camera flash is exponentially brighter than a flashlight even though they both may use the same battery. The spark comparison image to the right demonstrates the size brightness of a spark plug vs. a pulse plug. Here it is easy to see how much more energy is accumulated and dispersed to be used by your engine, which results in improved ignition velocity.

Ignition velocity refers to the growth of the combustion flame front, the speed of which determines the amount of energy released from the fuel. The greater the amount of ignition energy, the larger the spark. The larger the spark, the more efficiently your engine can operate to produce horsepower or, inversely, better fuel economy.

Key Features:

  • Built-in capacitor element stores and delivers a much more powerful spark, providing for more complete combustion.
  • Up to 10% better fuel economy.
  • More precise and efficient combustion with fine-wire electrode.
  • Individual CO2 emissions reduced by as much as a quarter ton annually.
  • Cleaner overall exhaust.
  • Platinum tip ensures increased plug durability.
  • A lifetime limited warranty and 30-day money back guarantee.

These plugs replaced the plugs in my 1999 Volvo S80 which I recently acquired. The spark plugs were in need of changing so I don’t have any info on improvements in fuel mileage or power increases. The plugs have worked without fail and it is important to follow the directions that come with the plugs, they come with dielectric grease under the sticker on the base of each plug.

My Pulstar Spark plugs arrived in good time. From the first day I installed them until now they have been working quite well. I notice a more powerful spark and my vehicle idles like a T-Bird or Corvette. I also pull away from almost every vehicle when I bring my RPM’s up past 4,000. So, in short don’t buy them if you like wasting fuel with regular spark plugs. The Pulstar Spark plugs sold by Amazon are nothing but the “BEST.”

I do all the mechanical and repair work on my vehicles. I purchased 6 of the Pulstar Be1p Platinum Pulse Spark Plugs for my 2000 Toyota 4Runner with the 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6 Engine. The NGK Iridium Spark Plugs that were in the truck had some miles on them and needed changing. I set the gap to .044″ as per Toyota’s Spec and installed them. The Pulstar plugs fit just like any other spark plug. After putting everything back together I fired up the engine. There was one cylinder not firing.

Through a process of elimination, one of the six plugs turned out to be bad. I put one of the old plugs back in and contacted Amazon. They set me up with a return label and promptly sent out a replacement. I installed the replacement plug today and all is good now. Not to knock anybody, but in the interest of full disclosure, Amazon didn’t do a great job of packaging the original six plugs. There was no padding inside the shipping box so they were just banging around inside. The plugs do come packaged in their own hard plastic cases. Still, the cases showed small cracks. So, the one plug that turned out bad could have been due to the poor packaging by Amazon, or it could have simply been a defective plug. There’s no way of knowing.

So, that’s it for the bad news. The good news is that the truck runs so much better now. I’ve never noticed this much of a difference from a simple plug change before. There’s a lot more low end torque than before and throttle response is instantaneous. I’m truly amazed. The engine runs much more smoothly and feels so much peppier. The exhaust note is even deeper than before. Even with only 5 of the 6 plugs replaced, there was a big difference. Now that all six are fresh, I’m going to be monitoring my fuel economy to see if there’s an improvement.

As I mentioned previously, the NGK Iridium plugs that were in the engine had some miles on them. NGK says they’re good for 60,000 miles. I think I had maybe 30,000 on them. At any rate, the Pulstar plugs made a huge, noticeable difference. If I hadn’t just changed the plugs in my wife’s Grand Am, I’d be putting a set in her car too.

    Highly recommended.
